Fund Isaan granted Toey a scholarship in 2014. She was 18 and studying in her first year to become a Science Teacher at Surin Rajabhat University. The duration of her study was 5 years.
Toey would love to teach at a primary school in her hometown, to increase the level of education for children in her community.
Without the help from Fund Isaan, Toey would never be able to study at the university. She lived with her grandparents in an old wooden house in Phonkhrok village. Her father worked as a truck driver, her mother always went along with him. They earned about 4,500 THB (approx. 130 EUR) per month. Her parents also grew rice on their small farm for their own consumption.
Toey has one older sister and one older brother. Her sister was studying Chemistry at university and her brother was working in a factory in Chonburi province. He got married and had to take care of his own family. He never could supported Toey nor his parents.
Toey was an excellent daughter, she always helped in the house and on the farm. At school, she worked for the student council, organizing activities and helping the teachers.
She lived in a university dormitory to save money. She used the majority of her scholarship to pay for the tuition fees and extra activities at university.
In 2017, Toey had the opportunity to enter the Grand Palace and paid her last respects to the body of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Like many Thai people she adored the King for all his good work and wanted to follow his path and help other poor people.
Toey graduated with a bachelor degree in Science (Teacher) from Surindra Rajabhat University in April 2019.
She is staying with her family in Thatum district,
“I always wanted to become a science teacher, so I could share my knowledge with my students. I want to help them create a bright future for themselves. Without you and your support I would not be able to do this. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to my sponsor, 3AMB, for having guided and supported me in the past years! Thank you!"
